Hair Accessory Tutorial

The best thing about this Hair Accessory Holder is that is is super cute and only took about ten minutes!

I picked up a burlap wrapped canvas board at Walmart in the Art section for about $4.  You could also replace the fabric on  a regular canvas board.
Decided how many rows you want to make sure they fit.  Don't limit yourself to just one or two kinds of ribbon like me, get creative!
Measure & mark for ribbon placement.  A glue gun works great, but it will depend on your material i.e. fabric or wood.  Could also use flat push pins or nails.
These little hooks are so simple to use that after the initial push in my 6 year old daughter finished them up.  Found in the hardware store at Walmart.  We don't have much more available to us when it comes to supply outlets.
Lastly is to fasten a ribbon on it for hanging.  I tied the Ribbon first and them tied the ends onto nails.

Kid Friendly Homes

"Mom, I need a drink of water"  repeated several times a day x # of children, doubled in summer.

One of the best things I ever did was put one of these things on my counter.

It's high enough that my youngest cannot use it (1 1/2) but perfect for the other two (3&5).  Place an absorbent rug or towel on floor for little spills.

Next make cups accessible so they can do it on their own. so the next best thing I did was toss (literally) all the kid's plastic dishes and cups in a large bottom drawer where they can reach it.
Not only can they get thier own drinks of water, but help set the table and empty the dishwasher.  Oh it is pure bliss.

Presenting: Vinegar in all it's splendor

It's something small yet something you will encounter for probably the rest of your life.  Taking a sticker off and dealing with that stickiness that won't come up.  Courtesty of my sister, here is a great tip, use vinegar.  It really is that simple.  A little vinegar on a paper towel or rag will get it right off.   Isn't vinegar great? Check out the following link for 1001 ways to use vinegar from cleaning to gardening http://www.vinegartips.com/scripts/pageViewSec.asp?id=7 .

Gaining a better perspective

The words "I am not my body" keep ringing in my head time and again. They are from a woman I have never met, yet I can't forget them. I wonder what she means, finally I crack and find out. This is her story of courage and love. I hope we can always remember the importance of what we are doing as she so well reminded me. Thank you Stephanie.

I shared this with my 4-year old daughter who, like most little girls are very concerned with being "pretty". She cut her own her to be "pretty", and now gets upset because it is not "pretty" and long yet. I explained about what happenes to your skin when it gets burned, she was very curious. I asked her if she thought this lady was beautifull and she said "yes", and said I should be more like her. That was a good moment. Thank you Stephanie for letting her know about "pretty".

Image of Women

I have often pondered on what it was like for my grandmother, her mother, or even her mother and the issues they faced. Yes, some are the same but in this age us women (yes, men are too, but I have trouble enough walking in my own shoes to try yours) have so many things thrown at us, many of which we don't talk about.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!!!

Get inspired for Pumpkins this Halloween. You can use almost anything to decorate a pumpkin, make it easy for kids or create a great cute home decor.

Use washable magic markers that are easy to wipe off when you make a mistake and finish with a permanant marker.

Spray paint pumpkin and then use the end of a spoon to scratch away paint to create designs.

Try outlining your image by scraping off the top layer. Add dimension by using other objects or paint or permenant marker for extra design.

These fun pumpkins are wrapped using double sided tape and ribbon, or sequins.

Pumpkin bugs! this one is a super cute one that any girl would love, but try mixing it up with paperclips, jar rings, buttons, or anything else in that drawer full of clutter.

Kids will love to make this funny face by using Mr. Potatoe Head parts.

Toothpicks and candy make another easy way for youngsters to do it themselves.
